Kaytee Recalls exact ® Hand Feeding Formula Baby Bird and exact ® Hand Feeding Formula Baby Macaw

CHILTON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kaytee Products is recalling a limited production run of two products, Kaytee exact® Hand Feeding Baby Birds and Kaytee exact® Hand Feeding Baby Macaws. These products were manufactured with an excessive amount of vitamin D which may cause illness, and in some cases, kidney failure. Bird owners and breeders should stop using the affected products immediately and seek the advice of a veterinarian if birds show any signs of illness.

The specific affected products being recalled can be identified by the Best Before date code printed on the product package (see www.kaytee.com). No other Kaytee products are affected.

Products and product lots that do not appear on the list are not subject to this recall.

Customers who purchased these products should review the “Best Before” date codes to see if they fall within the recalled product guidelines.

Kaytee Customer Service representatives and company veterinarians are responding to inquires through the 1-800-Kaytee1 (800 529-8331) phone number and will answer any questions regarding birds that have been fed the product.
